Summit Racing has a couple of books, two of which are about the 82-92 Camaro. If you can find Haynes manuals at parts stores, I have the Haynes "GM Transmission Overhaul" book, and it gives a pic-by-pic rebuild of the TH-350/400/200-4R and 700r4. I'd imagine their "engine rebuilding" book is also just as good. (You can also find haynes online at http://www.haynes.com .)
For tech, nothing beats the GM Service Manuals from http://www.helminc.com - mine is in bad shape after using it so many times.. I'm thinking of buying a new one just for the heck of it.
Also, http://www.summitracing.com sells a video by Richmond on how to set up rear gears. I think they have some other videos, too.
http://www.eastwoodcompany.com sells books & videos on stuff like welding, bodywork, and suspension work.
As to web sites, have you seen the technical article section of this website? It's off the main page of thirdgen.org. Oh you can get free catalogs from Summit & Eastwood, by the way.
Oh- thought of one more spot. JC Whitney's (at http://www.jcwhitney.com ) also carries a bunch of books & videos. You can get a free catalog from them, too. In fact I think they also carry the Haynes manuals.

When I wanted to learn more about cars and high performance I just decided to go to school and learn about it. I go to university of northwestern Ohio and study high performance. So far I have had classes in engine diagnosis and repair, a/c, automatics, and manuals. Soon enough I will be taking a class on high performance suspensions, fuels and ignitions, custom engine building and engine machining. This probably isn't the way you would want to go. I went to my local Borders book store and raided the transportation section. Authors to look for are John Baetchel, Ben Watson and David Vizard. Any of there books are excellent.
