Quick question

I'm changing out my rear diff oil and gasket. My jack gave out I wasn't under the car thank goodness . I was wondering if it would hurt the car if I drove it onto my ramps. Theres no oil in the diff.

HIX,

It probably won't hurt to do a few revs of the axle at creeping speeds, since there should be some residual oil film on the gear faces and in the bearings.

Shame on you for not using jack stands. You'd better consider yourself VERY fortunate. If not for some good timing, you might well be lying in the morgue. If you don't get some stands under there, you can count this as my last reply. Not that that is any big loss to you, but I don't want to get too associated with someone who is trying to kill himself. I might have to feel some remorse it anything were to happen (again).

Don't worry Vader I'm in no hurry to be dead . It was possitive experience, you will never catch me under a car without jack stands again.

damn you're luckey. i'm always scared of that happening to me, i use jack stands, plus leave the jack or another stand as a back up, with no preasure on it. yeah it wouldn't hurt to move the car a few feet at low speed.
