Camshaft question
Can a camshaft be polished and not change the characteristics of the lobe too much that it could effect the valve timing? I originaly bought this cam like it is (previous owner marred it on either instllation or removal), and since I could not feel the marks after running my finger nail over them I went ahead and installed it. I never had any problems with it at all. Inspected my lifters after the cam came out and they even still look as new as the day I bought them.
Can you zoom in on that lobe a little more closely? Is that the damage that has you concerned?
If the marks are not detectable by feel, you should be able to polish with a soft abrasive like flint papaer or crocus cloth, wash the cam, them lube and install it. So little polish will not affect the lobe characteristics a bit.

The damage doesn't have me concern at all cause I ran it for 6500 miles already in my engine with no problems, but when you are trying to sell it, it becomes a problem
As for the zoom in, nope, not unless I get a new digital. Thats the best I could with what I have.
I would rather not try to polish it out myself but rather take it to a shop and let them do it.
