Need Head and Cam Opinion
Need Head and Cam Opinion
I need opinions on heads for a 355, 85% strip/15% street motor. I'm trying to stick with a 64cc chamber which should yield about 10.3:1. I'll be using a Weiand tunnel ram with two 450 mechanical secondary Holley's. I prefer to use pump gas, but I will run a pump/race gas mix is necessary. The car will be a 4 speed with a 4.88 gear. I would prefer to buy the heads and then select the cam to match. Street driving is of very little concern and will be limited to >50 miles all summer, usually in ~5 mile or so jaunts. I realize that the displacement may be a little on the small side for something with a 215cc intake runner, but I only want to buy heads once, and these heads may end up on a different and bigger motor in the future. I've read that the Edelbrock's have a lot of room for improvement as the need arises, so maybe they'd be a decent choice out of the box. I've ruled out AFR's due to cost. I'm shooting for something with a 210-220cc intake runner. I've considered Dart Pro 1's, Brodix Track 1's, Canfields, Victor JR's, Trick Flow's (unsure of best model), Pro Topline's, World Motown 220's, and the Jeg's heads.
As for the cam, it's still pretty much up in the air. Right now, it has a 500/510, 275* solid which, after some research, seems too small to use the potential of any of the aforementioned heads. So cam choice is wide open to interpretation and opinion. As stated before, street driving is not a big concern, although it is necessary for short trips. Thanks for the help.
