I have a 350 that was built with chrome rings and evedently they never have seated. The motor has 6000 miles on it now and it is still getting blowby and using oil. The cross hatches were put in the bores also. I did the breakin procedure, but now that this has happeden is there any thing that can be done to seat them. Any thing at all. I dont want to have to pull the motor if I can keep from it. thanks

 

using oil doesn't mean the rings haven't seated. have you run a compression or leak down test? that would tell you if they seal or not. you may have leaking intake gasket causing the oil use. chrome rings tend to be hard to seat. i wouldn't use them for anything i can think of.
