Ignition Coil and Fuel Pump Wiring
Ignition Coil and Fuel Pump Wiring
I am in the process of switching from TPI to a carburetor, but when I went to hook up my ignition coil, I put a test light to the hotwire that went to my ignition coil before and there is no power when I try to crank the car. The same thing is happening with the wire that goes to my fuel pump. I was told that the wires for the ignition coil and fuel pump should both still work after removing the computer, but they are not. What could be causing this, and am I going to have to rewire my coil and fuel pump?
Fred,
If you remove the ECM, the fuel pump relay won't energize (no power to the fuel pump). The distributor might not get power if the EST is out of the circuit, so that could explain the problem. Is the car an '88 or newer?
