Sounds like pinging.

Ignition timing advanced too far, or EGR valve not operating properly.

Need a better description, then, of "knockingbanging noise coming from the engine when i hit the gas".

Rod bearings will tend to knock at any speed. Main bearings you may not hear at idle, but is a very hard knocking noise. Piston wrist pin or skirt slap tends to have a two-toned note to it (knocka-knocka-knocka rather than knock-knock-knock). Loose torque converter may require more RPMs to hear, but can sound like it's coming from the engine. Valve train tends to be more of a tap than knock.

If it started after a period of abuse, most likely you ruined something internal to the engine.
