i was wondering what kind of results, if any, you get from changing your stock cat to something aftermarket. on my 86 camaro im almost done with the exhaust. ive got the TES headers and a flowmaster muffler/pipe assembly. would it be worthwile to purchase a $280 catalytic converter? or could this money be spent elsewhere.

also, i have the stock intermediate pipe running from the cat to the muffler. what is the size of this pipe and will replacing it give me any kind of improvement(sound or otherwise)?

86 camaro cpe(dont laugh)has 92z28 body kit with GTS covers, new red paint and a killer stereo. 2 amps, 8 speakers, disc changer, custom install with subs coming by the end of the summer. gm 350,TES headers, flowmaster cat back, performer manifold, TCI converter, jet chip, kn with dual snorkel cleaner. and she still passed the sniffer!

I have done the same on my car with Hooker headers and catback. But when I pulled my cat it sounded like a baby's rattle. So I replaced it with a free flow cat from Catco. Summit sells the one for my car for $125.00. My car has never run better and still retain emmissions except AIR but no one seems to care about that.
