CA Smog sucks

went to get my car smogged at a"test only"they say its random selection if you get sent there, thats bull,i've been sent there everytime since i've had a camaro,6times in a row?anyway,i make sure the car is nice and hot,92 octane, fresh oil change,i've done this a few times!the tech come in after 5 minutes and says "you failed, your car overheated on the dyno"i said WHAT!?that car has never overheated!he says "it was at 240,thats too hot to test,it was running hot as a vette,it must be under 230 and by the way you would have failed emissions miserably!".i said no way,it passed no problem a year and a half ago,he says "well i had a tv that worked a year and a half ago too"i thought great i get the smog tech having a bad day.luckily i didn't have to pay, they turned it off early.they said go get it fixed and bring it back,i decided to go down the street and test it again just for the heck of it and to see if i get the same response,it passes no problem!i wanted to go back and show the guy,but since i didn't have to pay,i just let it go.now i'm taking all the smog crap off for 2yearssorry so long.

You should take that to a lawyer and see what he cant do for you. Maybe hell take a pro bono case for you against the state. Sure sounds like they made a fradulent attempt to get your car off the road.

i wish i could do that, but there's no way we'll ever beat the berkeley treehuggers out here, before long we'll all be driving Toyota Prius's and those other lame azz 0-60mph in 20sec hybrids in california.i had a weird feeling when the guy started my car and started revvin the heck out of it.also the lady there said he's real good,he used to be a referee for the state.has anyone ever heard of overheating on the dyno without the car actually ovrheating, just being hot?

The thing i dont understand is why they would care wheater its running hot or not. A hot engine will usually have less hc's and co's but nox will go thru the roof so its not like you can trick the system. At least not with just a hot engine. Read up on 3 way cats if you wanna try that trick hehe. If theres someone who wants to break the rules just cause theyre there(me) for every 10 enviromentalist, theyre gonna be in for a long battle.

i had to smog my iroc when i bought it,that was dec2002,the nox were below average,co and hc were average,i did the same things this time, made sure it was hot when i got there, but my nox was high, but everything else was normal.i did have a brand new cat in 2002 and i put some cheap air filters in for the test.this time i left the K&N's in and only changed the O2 sensor 3months ago.could a bad egr cause high nox?
