Very close to bolt-ons.

The center two bolts on each side of the intake manifold changed angle in 1987. The last year for 416's was 1986. Elongating the bolt holes in your manifold, with a drill bit or rat tail file, is what's required to get it to fit the heads.

TB,

I put the 416 heads on my '92 Camaro. It's really not a big deal. You just have to take a drill and make the center bolt holes on your intake oval. That way the bolts can reach the holes.

If you are planning to use your self aligning rockers, you would also want to enlarge the push rod guide holes to clear the push rods. While the heads are removed, you might do well to replace the rocker studs. 1.94" valves are a decent fit in '416 heads, too, if the lifts are not so high as to cause deck interference with the valves.

TB,

Well for me it is yet to be determined. I am actually running slower at the moment. I am currently doing for data logging and having a custom chip burned as to tie all of the mods togethere. So I am sure they flow better than the stock heads, but I have no proof as of yet.
