For those with the LT1 Cam in 305
I'm told my car is running, and running decent, by the guy that's doing chips for me. However, he says that to get it running good, he had to advance timing to close to 20*, and he has concern about this. Seems to me I remember everyone that did the swap in the 305's ended up with their timing set high, but I don't remember where. Timing chain is installed at 0. I could take the cover off and advance the timing chain to 4* advanced (degree the cam), and thus lower where the timing mark falls on the balancer, but I'm not sure what would be the point - wouldn't the end result be the same?
1) What's everyone that did the LT1 cam swap in the 305's have their timing set at?
2) Any reason why my timing shouldn't be set high, if it runs and runs good?
3) Anyone have any other suggestions about this?

You are gonna have to have it a bit high to get it to run with the stock tune. I am not sure about 20* high though. You should get it to run with no more than 10*. When you start to burn chips for it you are going to need it at zero base and put the timing in the chip.
