Belt Tension Pain HELP!

$400 later I am one step away from driving my car. After putting in a new intake manifold and ditching the smog pump the last thing I need to do is hook up my serp belt. My car is a 92 305 with the belt tensioner, what torx will fit that? I tried a #50, to small and a #55 to big no one carries anything in between any other ways to get the belt on or what kind of tool is needed to remove the tension screw. Need help my car has been sitting for a week and I really need to get it back on the road...

It should take the #50 torx bit. How loose is it that makes you think it is too small?

Why do you need to loosen that torx screw to get the belt on?? Or are we talking about something else??

Just put a 1/2" Ratchet in that little square hole on the tensioner arm and pull counter clockwise to release tension on the belt (it is spring loaded)... Just slap me if you're trying to do something else, but you said you were trying to get the belt on..

Thirdgen88 is right on!!!!! Do not start to remove any torx bits. You just need a breaker bar or a .5" ratchet without any attchments on it. It should take you 3 seconds to get the belt on.

I mis-read his original post and thought he was taking the tensioner off. My bad!!!!!!. Also, there are some tensioners out there that take a 3/8" ratchet or breaker bar to release the tension. I have one on my car.
