LG4 and L69 piston question
Im building a budget 305 for my camaro and i have two blocks from thirdgens but with different pistons
Dunno which year but its out of a camaro..
out of my old wrecked 82 t/a (threw a rod)
Which is which? thanks guys

L69s had flat-tops, like the top pic. None came with dished pistons. If you have a short block with dished pistons, it isn't a L69 short block.
LG4s had dished pistons like the bottom pic, up until about 86 or so. The last couple of years got flat-tops.
L69s also came with X rods (at least some did... mine had them for instance). Those are the best rods of their day. LG4s got lesser rods. So if that upper pic is really a L69, it's the one to use for that reason as well.

Yup, the L69 I pulled out of my Camaro had the flat tops like the top pic, as well as the X-rods that RB mentioned.

Awesome It has the "x" on the rods, i talked to the kid i got it from and he said it was out of an 83 z28.
