What do you think?

Ok, this might be more of an opinion question than anything else, so...

My 350 hasn't been fired since about New Years. I want to fire it up again soon, and it will have a fresh tank of gas when I do.

Question is: Do i have to prime the oil pump before firing, or can I just go ahead and start it?

My '57 often sits for a few months without being fired in the winter. I've never bothered to "prime" it deliberately when first starting it again, but it usually has oil pressure by the time it starts. And, I use a type of AMSOIL that is intended to help "preserve" engines that sit for extended periods.

So I should be fine? This is the first time I've let it (or any car) sit for this long, so I dont have any experience with it yet.

i've had lof of cars and trucks sit as long or longer without being fired and never primed them. far as i know it never caused any harm.

Yeah theres almost no chance you'll hurt anything... If it makes you feel happy you could unplug the ignition and crank the motor over with the starter until it gets oil pressure.... That'll get oil everywhere it should be without the immediate shock of a firing engine.

What do I think?

I think that fine women should be enjoyed slowly, and appreciated all the way, like a fine wine.

I think that businesses that invest in their communities and countries should be given an advantage over those that are short-sighted to the point of sacrioficing our infrastructure in the name of a quick profit.

I think excise, handling, and supplemental taxes should be removed from fossil fuels. Environmental laws that control their use now exist, so the "reasons" for those extra taxes are no longer valid.

I think that displacement and stroke will always reign over insane RPM in the real world.

I think that remakes are seldom as good as the original. That applies to movies, music, cars, politicians, etc.

I think that TPI is a good example of 1982 technological development - the same as an IBM PC/XT running at 4.77 MHz. (I still have mine!)

I think that carburetion is a good example of 1920's technology. Even jet and rocket engines use injection.

I think that compulsory civil service is a good idea for most of the population. This IS a republic - NOT a democracy, after all.

I believe that synthetic lubricants are the best answer to long term reliability and durability, and that their cost is more than offset by lower fuel consumption and less wear.

I think that taxes should be based on profits and income, not assets and holdings.

Oh, and I think you should check your fluids, start the engine, drive to the corner and top off the tank with low-octane fuel to replace the lost volatile components of the fuel in the tank, and stop sweating the detaisl so much. I've had engines sit six months, driven them normally after a thorough warm-up, and ended up with no measurable wear over the factory production tolerances after 110K miles.
