oil passage

oil passage

i was reading may 2004 issue of chevy high performance and it was written that by inserting a plug in the oil passage beneath the rear-main cap to ensure proper oil pressure. what will happen if this plug is not install.

The welch plug above the left of the rear main is installed to force oil through the filter passages. I'm not sure what other plug there might be.

It won't prevent the engine from having oil pressure; but it will prevent the oil from going through the filter.
