Speedo not working
Speedo not working
Ok, the T/A had a 350 w/carb swapped in, and the speedometer is not working. What could be causing the problem? I hope it is something as simple as a missing/loose connection. Where would be a good place to start looking?

If your talking about the 86, then you have a mechanical speedo.
Check the cable first.
It comes from the tranny and goes into the firewall and into the instrument cluster. Make sure the cable isnt fried or anything.
If the cable looks good i would look in the cluster next, and last the speedo gear in the tranny could be ****ed up.

I'll have a look at the cable then.....
Another quick question, if I get a 120MPH instrument cluster, I know it just pops in replacing my 85MPH, but will I have to calibrate the speedo for the new cluster, or will the electronics take care of that for me?

Rob88F....even tho' the speedo is electric there is still a gear in there spinning that sends a signal through the wire to the speedo!! Sometimes that gear can break or slip off! Mine did!
