testing egr solenoid?
testing egr solenoid?
Is there anyway to test an EGR solenoid? I just replaced my EGR valve and still am getting a code 53. all my vacuum hoses are good and I don't see any leaks so I am guessing it is the solenoid.
Does anyone know I way to make sure before I have replace it?
Thanks

Remove the electrical connector from the ECM harness, and test the resistance of the solenoid. You should be reading between 30-90 ohms. Anything outside that range indicates a possible problem.
If the solenoid tests good, supply a vacuum source to the 'A' port and energize the valve to see if you can measure vacuum on the 'B' port. The third port is for atmospheric vent, and should shift to the 'B' port when the solenoid is de-energized.
