Engine ground
NO,
the grounding is the most important part of your electrical system. A better engine to chassis ground will improve the performance of your alternator, starter, and ignition system.
If you have your battery relocated to the rear with a battery-chassis ground, the engine-to-chassis ground is even more important.
high quality copper & many fine strands make the best cables. The premade cables from autozone are low grade with only a few large strands inside.

Welding cable works good. The large strands can fatigue over time from vibration over a short span.
Good places are to ground the heads to the frame and firewall and I also grounded the starter casing to the frame. Ground probs are the hardest to deal with and putting the battery in the trunk can bring these problems lurkin'
