I remember in a previous post that someone(ithinks it was vader) said that the SES light should come on go off and come on again to signal that the ecm is doing relatively well under the dash where it lives .
is this correct for my 88 and if it doesent follow this sequence can I diagnose any problems from this.?

When you turn the key to "on" most of the dash warning lights should come on. They should all go off after you start the car though, with the exception of the fasten seatbelts light (if you have one).. that should go off a little later.
