I'd like to remove mine from the 84, the engine bay is bare, and it sticks out like a sore thumb, I was wondering if any one has used something (besides pluging it) like a breather filter, or maybe a fuel filter

Why???? It does only good, its not like a 4hp robbing smog pump type of emmission device. Honestly I'd still have my canisters if they werent broken before I owned these. The only thing I would remove them from without thinking twice about it would be a 70's fNord product coffie can with with a return and a vacuum line those are useless. Anyway if your dead set on removal get a differential breather/filter, any parts store shoud stock them. Just pop it on some fuel line and run it into the fender. It works quite well.
