Cam install went great!

No it didn't...The cam install did not go exactly as planned. Upon further inspection, the front cam bearing wase a tad scored. We ended up pulling the engine. The engine pull actually went well. We pulled it out the side and did it in about 3 hours. So...what to do now? Its going to the machine shop. Should I just replace the cam/main bearings? Who knows...maybe when it gets opened up it will reveal a can of worms. We'll see I guess.

you won't know what it needs untill it's apart and inspected. figure all the bearings, rings, oil pump, redo the heads, and whatever is related to these parts at a minumin.

The engine is 1.5 years old and only has 10,000 miles. I have hyper-u's in there right now and am debating whether or not to throw forged slugs in there and stroke the bitch. I definately want to but I already sorta broke the bank getting all of the other stuff (AFR, Air-Gap, Demon DP, Crane Gold, etc. etc.).

I'd go for that other stuff before a stroker kit. Whats the point of having a 383 if you don't have the heads and intake to back it all up? I'd change at least the cam/main bearings too. Maybe the timing chain too if it needs it, but at 10k, it probably doesn't.

I already have all of the following in the shop. I was going to put it all together this week: AFR 195s, Comp Cams XE274 and lifters, Demon 750 DP, Edelbrock RPM Air-Gap Intake, Crane Gold 1.6, Roller Rockers, LT1 Mini-Starter, Hooker 1 3/4 Long Tubes, Gaskets, Cloyes Adjustable Timing Chain, Holley Blue Fuel System.

IMO, its worthy of more displacement. Not sure if I'll go for it this year or not.

Oh... well if you already have those parts, then yea, go big when you have the cash!

It sounded like it was either those parts OR the stroker kit. My mistake, heh
