How do Vortec 305 heads compare to 416's-601's?

Just courious if anyone has gone into any detail comparing 416's ect to the vortec 305 heads? I cant find too much comparison data its mostly vortec 350 castings.

Never actually flowed a set but they should be lil diamonds in the rough. The ports are simular to 350 L-31 vortec heads. The small combustion chambers are shaped more like a 305 TPI head (081) castings. they a have 305 sized 1.84 x1.50" valves.
Sort of a mixture of TPI and L-31 vortec features.
In stock form they probabily flow simular to a 305 TPI head (081) or 305HO (416).

People are bound to turn their nose up at them so you should be able to score a set cheap.

I'd say if you come across a set for cheap and don't mind putting the porting work into them with larger valves you can get good performance out of them
for low $$$.
I think the Stock vortec EFI intake manifold has good performance potential too with mods.

the 305 vortec casting # ends in 059 or 520

Well actually were considering using these 98 305 Vortec heads Ive had laying around for 2 years on an 89 TBI camaro with ?X? vortec manifold and an adaptor plate just to see if it would wake up an LO3.
