egr and vortec heads

i heard that there can be problems adapting vortec heads for egr, is this true, and if so what is the problem, or how do you get around this problem.

if u know to retain EGR for emissions use the vortec TBI intake. The vortec heads use an external egr system which draws exhaust gases from the AIR tubes of one of your exhaust manifold/headers. So one set of AIR tubes will be used for egr purposes and one will be used for air injection via the smog pump/diverter valve. You will have to run a hose from your AIR tubes to the tapped EGR thread in the front of the intake manifold.
When the egr valve opens, it will suck exhaust from the headers.
Run a search, there are a few pics of this setup.

theres really no way to take a non vortec intake and make it work...u could but thats alot of work, cutting, welding, adding material porting, etc. not worth the time.

SDPC sells a kit to make a EGR work for their Vortec TPI intake...It just involves cutting a hole in your header. I wasnt a big fan of that idea so I just blocked it off...Its doable just buy the kit and ur all set!!
