How much RPM is too much?

How fast(RPM) can you spin a stock bottom end on a stock 91 z28 LB9 1LE before you risk sending small parts through sides of semi-vital cylinder walls? just a guestimate is good.

1991 Z28 305 5spd 1LE, TES headers, dual cats, 3 Chamber flowmaster, Comp cams .488/.495 212/218 the usual street racer with a stock chip.

Well it would prbably hold to 5700 rpm, but i dont reccomend anything over about 5200 on most chevy small blocks. I have this friend with an 86 vette, and he regularly bump shifted his car (notice im talking in past tense, see where this is giong) at 6000 rpm. Now this is a stock L98, so thats pretty damn hard on it. I always told him that was too high and one day he would have a piston shoot through his hood. Well, first, his tranny goes, but it had 120,000 miles on it, so he claimed it was old age; possibly. Well that was a while back, now his car sits immobile in his driveway with a spun crank bearing. Did i mention hes a dumbass? Anyways, just food for thought...

use to launch my old 327 at 4500 and shift at 8000. any more i can't believe i did that, but i know i did. you should feel a point where your engine quits making power and there isn't any point going higher in the rpm range. i'd say 5000 would be close to that point.
