Heres a prob, car won't idle in gear, or something
Ok, after long awaited agony i just finished installing and reinstalling my fuel pump. Filled the tank started the car and it actaully started, Then after a few minutes of warming it up i put it in gear and went for a ride. Car ran sound and got me home. Brought it into the garage checked for any leaks and it was good. Actaully there was a small leak where the radiator hose hooks to the engine, We didn't tighten that hard to get at bolt enough, Anyways. Tightened it up no more leak car seems fixed. Then I start it again to go out, it starts. I put it in reverse and the car dies out. So then i try to start it and nothing. SO i put the gas to the floor and start it and it starts but when i put it in gear it dies. Now it does seem like the car is ideling kind of high when it is in Neutral or Park. And now to start it i have to floor the gas. It shouldn't be like that correct. I have no clue whats wrong. Can any one help me with these problems.
Thankyou very much in advance
Jason

88,
If the pump is new, did you replace the filter? Have you checked fuel pressure since the pump was installed? I'm thinking some debris in the tank or lines that got disturbed in the process of changing the pump may have lodged in the filter or regulator.
If the pressure is correct (Stock regulator, 37 PSIG +/- 3 PSIG at idle, vacuum line connected) then check the IAC passages and TPS setting. Minimum throttle position has to be set with the engine warmed and in DRIVE.
Adjustments you might have made before to get your engine to run may have to be rechecked at a different fuel pressure and flow. It's also possible that the ECM BLM tables have learned to enrich the hot idle mixture based on the lower pressure from your old pump. If the fuel rates are too high now, the ECM may have to be reinitialized and allowed to rewrite the BLM tables.
