Can I mix different tires?

I need to pass an inspection in NH and I have 3 pretty bad tires and 1 brand new tire, all are 16" on the fancy aluminum pontiac 16" rims

I also have 4 decent tires that are on 15" rims, two of them are good year regettas and look good enough to pass and two of them are snow tires (different brands though) that look like they might pass

any ideas? is tire inspection really checked? I have no money...

I'm not really sure about NH, but here in VA, the tires just have to have more than 2/32's of tread. If they match or not, that's up to you. Personally, I'd get matching tires, but if you're in a bind and just need to pass inspection, you should be ok. Then again, like I said above, I'm not too familiar with NH laws/standards.

You cannot put 15" tires on 16" rims.

I believe he was inferring that he slap the 15" rims on the car in place of the 16's. And yes, I know that 15" tires won't fit on 16" rims. LOL DUH! :-D Sall good.

for inspections, yes.

but if you have a posi, and you put two diffrent size tires on it, it can wear it out. the two diffrent tires spin at diffrent speeds, so the posi thinks you're turning and it slipps.

Woops. I thought you wanted to pull the ol' ghetto rig. Mr_dude is correct about the posi. That is about the only thing you should worry about.

Only thing I've heard problems about with different tires at different corners is traction in rain or snow... when one tire's got great grip in the wet, and the others suck, you might be in for a wild ride!
