89 RS belt problems

I have noticed a few weeks back that my belt was being damaged. I have little black crud all over the front of the motor. I just put on a new belt , and it seems worse now. on the head of one bolt i found about 1/4 inch of crap piled up. I looked over the old belt and it didnt look too bad. I cannot seem to find an area that would be scraping the belt. the pulleys arent wobbling that i can tell. i dont feel any of that debris flying around when i put my hand around the belt.
anyone else have this problem?

Can you post a pic of the damaged belt? Check over all the acc. to make sure there isnt any excessive end play in the belt line accesories and that nothing is bent. Also make sure that everything turns freely. A dragging accesory would cause slipping which would wear out the underside of the belt

I can post one later. It doesnt look out of the ordinary. Also today I set my fan switch to come on later. well it went to around 220*(normally run around 160)
I noticed while waiting in the drive thru a noise coming from the engine bay. the car was idling just above 500. I slightly revved it up to about 6-700 rpm. the noise stopped. the oil pressure was a few psi lower as well.
the other day i noticed a similar noise coming from the front of the motor, on the area where the ac and smog pump. i could not tell if it was the block or the acc.
Could it be that one of the acc pulleys are messed up and that is what wasmaking the noise at low rpm, and also stripping the belt?
I am concerned the previous owner removed the factory fan switch so it would run cooler to cover up mechanical problems.
am not sure on this though because she pulls well.

well today i was looking at the underside of the old belt, and in some areas the v pattern underneath is really chewed up. could one of the pulleys be messed up to do that? on one side of the belt the, grooves were dug out in certain areas

Make sure all the accessory bolts are tightened all the way down so they don't hit the belt.

well today i took the belt off and spun the acc. the alternator pulley is wobbley, and the smog pump sounds almost like the bearings are going out. I have a lifetime warranty on the alternator so i am replacing it this evening. as for the smog pump, i will replace that when it really needs it
