3M fuel injector cleaner?
3M fuel injector cleaner?
I know, I know, sending the injectors to Rich is the best cleaner but I can't afford to lose transportation right now. So I'm wondering, is that 3M injector cleaner kit that taps to the fuel rail and runs through the engine for about 10 minutes any good? It's bound to be better than the cleaners you pour into the gas tank, I hope. If it has worked well for anyone, where did you buy it? Thanks guys.
Jethro,
The cleaners that are pumped through the rails are generally better than the fuel additives. The additives are really only good as a maintenance item, and seldom do a good job at really cleaning the injectors.
I know I've said it more than once, and you already know the best method, but I've also said that for the cost of some of these cleaners and the ease of use (compared to a tear-down of the induction system) it's at least worth a try. If it works well enough to get you on your way, it's worth the effort. If not, you're really not out anything but a few bucks and some time.
Go for it. Maybe you'll be one of the lucky ones.

Thanks a bunch, Vader! I don't think they're too far gone (39,000 miles) but just enough to make it idle funny so I'll give it a try when I get the chance and let everyone know how it goes. I think since the car sat so much it built up deposits in the injectors, but that's just a theory since nothing else I tried worked. Thanks again for your time.
