white residue on distributor cap/plug wire...

Engine: 5.7 L98
Transmission: 700R4
white residue on distributor cap/plug wire...

1 point on the distributor cap and inside of the corresponding plug wire is corroded (white powder residue)

What causes this? Why would this happen to only 1 plug wire?

Not sure about the 2nd question, but the answer to the first is "aluminum oxidation".

Go with a cap that has brass terminals instead of aluminum.
