Help Me Out While My Car Is Still In One Piece!!
Okay i am not working on a thirdgen here but basic mechanical stuff here. First in the last 3 months my wife has blown the motor in her Grand Voyager , so i bought her a 92 Ford Exploder which conviently caught on fire and burned up after owning it for 2 months...total loss. I have a van which i need for work that leaves the Camaro at home "unattended". So i let the inspection run out on purpose so my wife wouldn't want to drive it. But she was so kind to pay, w/o me knowing for the registration , emmisions and inspection
I can't tell her not to drive it (because i already did and it doesn't work) We took the 94' Plymouth Grand Voyager to a garage , he said he had a motor w/ 90,000 mi on it ..to have it towed there plus installed $750.00. Problem is he tells me there's a "electrical problem" which never existed till they tried to install a new motor. They tell me first there was no spark and no injector pulse , the mechanic told me he put in a new sensor in somewhere and he got a injector pulse, but still no spark . Then he told me he traced the wires to look for a short or a bad ground and everything checked out alright, said he was going to try a new ECM but i knew that wasn't the answer , and it wasn't . He put my coil pack on and still nothing. He want's to take it to some other "electrical place" and charge me more , which i think is
cause there was nothing electically wrong with the van, just the motor siezed up......What can i tell this guy to check for if he's gettting no spark?? He used my wiring harness so i am thinking of suggesting to him to try the original harness that was with the motor he gagged it from, maybe the my wiring harness is a little different from the engine he put in. Anyone have any suggestion that i can give him before i have a third victim????? Like my camaro

Well if you have the price in writing for 750 for the swap and he started it. Tell him he can take it any where he wants cause you are not paying more than 750 thats what he quoted you to get the engine running the guy is pulling a sham on you or totally incompitent. I also call the better business bureau and see if this guys had any complaints, unless he works from his garage. This is my own opinion of course its your money though.

I personally think they probably dont know what theyre doing. I just gave up with actual garages and shops after being scammed a bunch of times and loosing money from people not knowing what theyre doing or trying to make a fast buck off me. Really sucks, too, since the motor is a high milage unit and it might end up costing a fortune to swap it in and then have the thing crap out in a few months. I dont know anything about dodges so Im not much help. If you want to stop her from driving the camaro, though, you can just pull the ecm and take it with you. Car wont do anything without that

Ok, I'm glad to see that my DH likes to exaggerate the truth! Quite a bit!
I feel we are being jerked around & will tell Dave to call them & say they can take it to whom ever but we are not paying for any more.
As far as taking the ever costing camaro....................that is a crock. I drive it maybe once a week to & from work. The explorer caught on fire & that could have easily happened while he was driving it. The Voyager's motor seized because the oil pump went. It was a matter of minutes after I lost oil pressure that the engine seized.
Bad luck w/vehicles YES! But If I didn't have to have the family vehicle & have it driven everywhere & then some..........I might have a nice vehicle too.
If you all have any other thoughts or comments please post them because I would like my van just as much as Dave. At 1st I thought they were trying to get over on me because I'm a woman but now I really believe they don't know what they are doing.
Thanks

I hate "shops". You can never get a good price for anything. Plus they always end up charging you more than they should for petty things. 750$ for the motor and install is reasonable but BS about the electrical stuff.
