engine questions
Okay, a few days ago I ran through the numbers to build up my 400. and to get the parts that would make it run decently it would take me more than $5000. I am going to college next year, and $5000-$6000 dollars for an engine is out of my price range, so after I am out of college, I will build the **** out of my 400.
Anyway, untill then I am wanting to put a better intake, exhaust, and maybe even heads and a cam onto my 305
1) what kind of exhaust does everybody reccomend. I am not too concerned about the AIR injection so that is coming out. I would like to have 3" ,or more, pipe on back of headers. are there any kits that I can buy and put on myself.
2) I am thinking about putting on a better TPI intake on the good ol 305. Any specific manufacturers that have better qualities than the next, any reccomendations?
3) I am interested in getting new heads to boost HP. I am thinking about AFR, but I have no Info in them. can anybody give me any numbers that I can expect?
4) ahh the cam. good streetability, long-lasting, maybe even a roller(if in the budget)
Can Anybody Give me any recomedations for my car? Thanks in addition to anybody that can help me out.

I'd go with the 1 5/8" headers and 3 inch exhaust.
I guess the Torquer heads are awesome, especially for the price.
I'm using the comp cams # 12-238-2 hydr. cam, headers, springs, weiand 8004 intake (spreadbore, I think a little taller than the stealth saw them side by side at a store), and a 650 cfm Holley Double Pumper, vac advance HEI with an advance curve kit. I'll have it finished by Saturday (I HOPE)
so drop me a line if you'd like to know how it turned out.
The only other thing I plan on adding is perhaps a set of 1.6:1 rockers.
I'll also be removing the cat, but keeping the 2 1/2" pipes for now.
I'm hoping that this will get me into the high 13's, with the stock heads......
