HELP!! Lifter stuck
In the process of installing new crane powermax cam in my 82 t/a 305. For some reason the lifter on the exhaust side of the #6 cylinder will not come out! I've tried grasping it with a pliers and tugging as hard as I can, but the pliers keeps slipping off from the oil... I've got all the other lifters out except this one... Is there some other way to get it out?

It's probably mushroomed on the bottom. That one probably was the one that was ticking no matter how you adjusted the valves.
Pull it up as far as you can get it. Remove the cam. Put something underneath it, your hand if it will fit, to catch it; and knock it out downwards, into the cam bore. Don't let it fall into the engine, or bad things might happen.
