anyone out there had to do this with their vortec heads? Does it stick out like a sore thumb in the engine compartment?

 

It isn't the most hidden thing and most guys run it on the front of their manifolds. If I ever went the vortec route I would delete it from the PROM.

 

what do you mean by running it on the front of the manifold? How exactly does the plumbing get routed? I thought EGR valve was at the back of the manifold?

 

On most manifolds it is but some vortec intakes have them on the side or on the front. The vortec TBI intake has it smack dab in the front. You are going to have to tap into you ehxuast and route it that way. I will see if I can dig up the old post that showed pics and such.
