water coming from the y-pipe on a 305

It started rite up tonite, runs like a champ even with the stock crappy chip. It turned out it was the timing -rotor was off 180° thats what everyone said.

Heres the catch 99 i have a lot of straight water coming out of the y-pipe which i have attached the cat on temporarily. It doesnt have any anti-freeze in it, and it only leaks from the part on the heddman y-pipe where it becomes 2 pieces so its actually leaking from the y-pipe, my question is where is this coming from?

There is no indication of water or any other fluid on the block, or oil pan rails, the heads arent leaking fluid otherwise i would be able to see it milkshaking my oil and coolant. manifold is tight. i followed the chilton manuel and triple checked everything. Now i dont have any band clamps on the exhaust, as i only intend to run it long enough to tune it and datalog and make sure there are not problems. the only other leak i have is the one coming from the manifold crossover but its way too small.

Valve adjustment is okay theres no clacking yet unless it comes out at higher RPM's like 2000 or 6000. it idles at 1500 rite now but i geuss thats due to the chip and the LT1-cam.

Now the next thing is-is the oil for the rocker arms i pulled off the oil fill cap and looked under the valve cover-only to find there is no oil, or what i think is no oil. i primed the pump last nite for kicks since the engine has been sitting for 6 months awaiting parts. the oil pump obviously works or i wouldnt have had oil all over the priming tool and i wouldnt have been able to see it rising (yea i could see it rising i was standing on top of the strut towers lookin at it. ) I only let the engine idle for about 2 minutes i didnt want to take my chances. Im totally befuddled as to why this is so.

Don't run the engine with no coolant in the system. You'll overheat it in a right quick hurry.

Water from the y-pipe is probably from condensation and remember that water is a natural by-product of combustion. The union at the y-pipe SHOULD be welded up tight, but it's possibly they missed a little spot and water that is condensing in the pipe is dripping out there. If there's no water in the engine it's for sure you don't have a coolant leak.

You won't see much oil in the rocker deck. It pretty much all flows back into the lifter valley pretty quick- faster than you can get the valve cover off it to check. If you want to know for sure, pop off the valve cover and fire it up. Believe me, you'll have oil spraying/splaching all over the place in no time off the rocker arms.
