I still have that annoying buzz...w/in...

I replaced the green relay in the convinience center, but I still have a buzzish whine and a flashing choke light occasionally. Also, the Fasten Seat Belt light glows on and off.

What gives? (86 ROC LG4)

I've replaced the relay and checked everything else. I think I'll just rebuilt my alternator, that's all I can think of. At least it will keep me busy.

I really don't think it has anything to do with my alternator - it seems to be charging normally.

Also, my Fasten Seatbelt light comes on for no reason, and goes back out...

I don't know exactly what your symptoms are but here's my experience:

When I bought my '84 Z28 (LG4) I had an occasional buzz accompanied with the choke light flickering (the louder the buzz the brighter the choke light). It only happened once in a while so I wasn't too concerned about it. Then one day I'm cruising along, hit a pothole and BUZZ! It buzzed constantly with the choke light fully lit. I found a burnt fuse and all was well again... until the next day when I hit another bump and the fuse blew again. In went another fuse which blew immediately. I then concluded something somewhere is shorting out. I traced the wire (brown I think) from that fuse all the way up to the instrument cluster. There, in the bundle of wires that supply the instruments was a wire with burn marks and cut sheilding scraped off from rubbing against a metal bracket (which is grounded of course) for the last 16 years. Taped it up, fuse hasn't blown since and I haven't had the intermittent buzz either. I think the intermittent buzz might have been caused by slight shorting of the wire which wasn't enough to blow the fuse.

As far as you safety belt light... mine did it too until I pulled the bulb!

Happy Troubleshooting!
