You'll still need to use an air filter with a ram air system.

it will work because the air will be a little cooler,, but
the ribbed tubing is terrible for airflow & you can do much better than that by making your own. It should also be insulated to keep radiant heat out.
To increase airflow into your throttle it usually helps to increase the distance between the throttle and the top of the airfilter housing so the air has more room to make the turn.

If you don't have your air filter housing insulated from underhood heat then the cold air induction will not be as effective as it could be.
