Weird noise in the rear when i turn!

When i make a turn or sometimes when im just driving theres a weird noise that sounds like some pressure is letting go.I dont know if its what that is but thats the best way to describe it.Its coming from the right rear.Any ideas?
Thanks

85,

Ede is probably right, but on the slim chance that your 173 car has a posi axle, the rear gear oil may need to be changed and the friction modifier replenished. Posi axles without the additive have a terrible sound if the bronze cones are in good condition.

If you don't have a posi axle (RPO code G80), then get some gear oil and a gasket anyway. You need to break into the differential carrier and check out the problem.

What Vader said. If it's a groaning sort of noise and the rear end feels like it's taking little hops sideways, it needs some posi additive. Get the GM kind from the dealer, it works the best.
