1.6 rockers on a stock 305 tpi...worth it?
anyone done this mod by itself?
trying the cheap stuff first - k/n, air foil, slip runners, clean up the upper plenom, big mouth intake base, headers, 3" exhaust.
i curious to see if this mod ALONE will make a "seat of the pants" diff and will there be any negative effects?

I changed to 1.6:1 rockers over a stock cam. There was no noticable difference. However, I changed to roller tip rockers, and mainly to reduce friction and wear at the valve tip and guides. The minimal extra lift and duration don't hurt, but don't count on any hefty gains.
Opening the plenum behind the throttle body is a good step, as is matching the plenum/runner openings, and runner/base openings.
While you have the induction apart, it might be a good idea to send your injetors off for cleaning and flow matching. You won't need them for a few days, anyway. I've had very good success here: Cruzin' Performance

FWIW, the air foil is a waste of time and money. Mine didn't make any difference. It didn't hurt, didn't help. For what you'd spend on the larger runners and base, you'll create a lot more gain with a new cam and good springs. The larger runners really benefit the larger 350s more than a 305.
Forget about altering your MAF as well. Relocating the MAT doesn't make any real difference either. It's hard to overcome the restrictions of the cam and heads with all the external parts, so you might as well dive right in and solve the biggest problem first. Just my opinion.
Your stock heads are decent pieces, and can support a lot more flow than the cam is allowing.
