Rebuilt Engine Oil Pressure
Hi. I have about 7000miles on my rebuilt 350tbi and have noticed that the oil pressure seems to have come down quite a bit since brand new.
Brand new idle: 55 psi
Brand new highway: ~60+ psi
Hot idle: 30psi
Hot Highway: 45psi
I believe that 30/45 is well within the normal range for oil pressure, but what concerns me is that it's only been 11000km for it to drop from 55/60+ down to 30/45.
I've got a regular oil pump, not high volume and moly rings...
Does this seem normal for a rebuilt??

Well, I am not quite sure of the drop you are having but I rebuilt my motor in January. After it was rebuilt, the car would idle at 15 PSI and anywhere between 30 to 45 PSI under load. After three months and around 1000 miles later it is still the same. I know this won't really help you but I figured I would post for comparison.

You'd think the 305/350 would run similar oil pressures.
I was just thinking that I might still be running 5 30 oil and it's getting pretty warm here now... Maybe I should change it out then worry about it.
