Can I make an 0.015 head gasket work?

Heads have been surface milled. Unshrouding the combustion chamber increased the overall cc to about 67. To improve quench and keep compression ratios up, I have an 0.015 Felpro gasket.

Can this gasket work on my high mileage block? Anyone else run this gasket on a used, undecked block? Any problems I can avoid?

Thanks

I'm guessing you're talking about the Fel-pro 1094? I just bought two of them to use on my motor, but I had the blocked mill'd and the heads are brand new.

For the guys that need to link to see it here it is:

They look like good gaskets.

Here's another post on it https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hlight=fpp1094

Some good points by Vadar and Damon

Thanks for the reminder though I keep on remembering once I get away from the PC I need to look up that gasket on here.

The 1094's are not just steel shim gaskets. they are rubber coated.

I'm going to use Copper spray sealant...and try them.

For the 305 I had new heads and used block. I used aluminum paint just to be sure I got a seal to the block (spray Coppercoat will be fine, too).

I used steel shim non-coated head gaskets on the 396 with used, unresurfaced heads and block. Sprayed with Copercoat prior to installation.

No problems with gasket leakage on either engine.
