i did do white face gauges 2 years ago , but it worked fine last summer, now its stuck on half tank, is it possible it froze there over the winter( summer driven only), anyways , where do i start first? i guess there is a sending unit somewhere but i see nothing about it in my haynes manual..........being its 13 years old i guess it could have crapped out..........just wana make sure thats it.............and no the needle isnt rubbing on the face, i can see shadow under it.........

it is possible that the fuel level sender got stuck.

would filling it up fix that? i know, i should have tried that but im out of cash and gas prices are sky high, im just wondering, i noticed today that it stopped going down, so i threw 10 bucks in and it moved very slightly up but never went back down and i know i burned up that 10 bucks, is it possible for it to only move one way ? up? i fear if i fill the tank it will stay there, =(

my fuel gauge also gets stuck from time to time
all i do is flick it with my index finger for a couple seconds fairly hard and it usually unsticks and reads correctly

Mine hasn't read right for the past 2 years. It will never go below 1/2 tank and goes about 1/4 tank past the F mark.

I was going to throw a new sender in it but they are 250++

how do you flick it with your finger? is your dash open with no glass? (well plastic).............ok so is there anything you can put in the tank that may help free it up that wont hurt the engine? you say its the float on the sending unit? all youd have to do is clean it up then no? why would you need to replace the unit? i assume youd have to drop the tank to do so? what exactly would be the name of the part and where would i search online for it?

I would suspect a failed gas gage before the sending unit. I had that problem, and replaced the gage and everthing works now and that was about eight years ago. Still have car.

i think you may be right , cuz i filled the tank and the needle went up to 3/4 tank and thats it.........gonna watch it but in the meantime i figured this, its a 15.5 gal tank according to my owners manual, so im figuring a conservative 10mpg, i reset the odometer and at 150 miles ill fill it back up and see how many gallons it takes and go from there, now do i have to go thru the dealer for this part? (please say no ) if so what do i tell them i need, an electronic fuel gauge ? you know i took the dash apart to do my gauges and it all seems like on piece.....

It will be a Dealer part if they still stock them or else E-bay. I can't help you on the 91 cluster but each gage is seperate and they do come out.
