Just bought an 82 firebird that has a broken line on the top of the smog pump the plastic crap can i take the whole air pump off with out the comp sending out a code? its the computer controlled carb so i think i can get away with it but want to be certian before i rip the pump off set a fire and dance naked around it?

 

I took mine out long ago without any trouble codes, so you should be fine. Just make sure you tighten some brass plugs into the manifolds as tight as you can get 'em and you shouldn't have any problems, that is, if you don't have emissions checks.
