Small Canister Near Master Cylinder

The small canister that seems to be a valve near the master cylinder......one of the tips broke off of it, it was incredibly brittle.

Do I need to replace that or can I just run the vac lines directly to the master cylinder?

you mean to the brake booster? i think what you're talking about isa check valve to the booster, replace it if it's broke.

Yes, the check valve, not the booster. Sorry for the poor description.
