305 w/TPI cam will it work or not

A guy(Goautocenter.Com) wants to sell me a brand new 305 engine with a TPI cam in it for $1725 and will it work with my TBI FI. The cam is crane computer camshaft(duration @ .050 204/214, lift: .429"/452", L/C: 116) specs and the P/N is 104221.

Herman

i'm no EFI expert but i pretend to be one one here, i think the cam will work fine for you. you might want to ask on the TBI board, there are some better informed members there.

Yeah, I have a 204/214 cam in my 86 IROC's 305 and it is just fine for a 305. But there is no way in hell I would spend $1700 on a lousy 305. RIP OFF CENTRAL IMO. I would look into a 350 instead of putting another 305 in there, there's no reason not to. Price should be close if not cheaper. The 265 hp 350 they sell for $1550 would work for you if you bought a new TBI intake to fit, or tweaked the center bolt hole angles or your current intake. That and a new flexplate for the older style rear main seal on that motor would be all you'd need to throw it in. That would give you alot better base to start with, modding down the line will really benefit from that 350 vs that 305 not to mention the extra 30+ hp it will already starts with...

I initially bought that 265hp motor (back when it was $1399) for my 87Z but ended up putting Vortec heads on and a hotter cam (that's where I got the 204/214 cam for my 86 IROC) in it after I had it sitting in my garage for awhile...
