plug and pray harness for swap?

Ok, since all the tbi-tpi swap material I see online is a swap to a speed density system. I want to know if anyone has gone from tbi to MAF? My main question is with the VSS. No where online does it mention in the tbi-tpi swap what you're supposed to do in order to change the 2000 pulses per mile on the tbi to 4000 pulses per mile on the speed density tpi. Most people have said just bypass the buffer and that's it. My question is since tbi and MAF tuned port are both 2000 pulses per mile does that mean I can just get a MAF harness from a firebird and use that plug for my VSS and that would work fine? I don't wanna bypass the buffer if i have it there and that would work fine with MAF. Has anyone switched to MAF from tbi and done this? Thanks.

the TBI and `165 TPI MAF ECMs use the same input signal.
