hot weather fuel problems
i have a '91 305 TBI. mostly stock. whenever i come out early in the morning to start it, it starts up fine. I park it at school. come back out 6 hours later and its roastin out. go to start my car and it just cranks and cranks. eventually, after waiting and trying every once and a while, it finally starts. i took off the air element and i have found that it is not spraying fuel while cranking, and when it finally does, it sputters out and eventually runs perfect. i can even go shut it off and start it right back up. thats the strange part, if i run the car all i want and the engine is real hot, it STILL starts right back up. the only time it wont is if it sits in the heat. i havent found a real pattern on how to get it started but its mainly waiting and trying. any ideas would be greatly appreciated!! What does sitting in the heat all day have to do with it not starting?

Check the oil pressure switch above the fuel filter. If the switch is faulty, it will not allow the pump to prime, causing very extended crank times.
If you can see oil seeping out thru the switch, its almost guaranteed it's bad.

that idea seems to make sense, especially since my oil pressure gauge goes all the way up and just stays there, but its always done that (havent got around to fixin it). My question is, would the oil pressure switch only be affected in hot weather?

went out today to check out the oil pressure switch and it was not even plugged in. the problem is, i see no plug around it ANYWHERE. i did find a burnt wire sheathing though.... does anyone have information on waht the connector looks like, wat color wires go into it, and where do these wires go? Haynes was pretty much useless. my most important question is where do they go so i can find them and back track. thanks!!
