I think I have an exhaust valve hanging open what do you think?

I just got my T/A out for the spring, it hasn't ran since the last nice day in December. Well I got it started and let it idle up to operating temperature then shut it off and check all the fluids and such. The I start it again and was going to adjust the timing and minimum air setting and a few other things, then it happened.
I heard a pop coming out of the exhaust. every few seconds I head a slight pop, not to loud but audible. Now I dont hear anything up at the engine and I don't see the tach jumping or anything like that.
I just want to know if this is serious and what could it be. a Broken valve spring maybe?

Probably a fouled plug.

If it was a valve hanging open, you'd hear a loud noise every single time the engine fired, without exception. You description sounds like what happens when there's some unburned fuel in the exhaust system.

Change the spark plugs.

Oh yeah, I most likely have fairly fouled plugs.

OR, it could be a burnt plug wire. My suggestion is just go ahead with a full-tuneup. I think TomP says he does one as part of his spring cleaning. Couldn't hurt even if it isn't the problem.

lol, mine does the same exact thing. The new cars got "Change Oil" lights, we got the next best thing, a signal of when to change the plugs/wires. I must admit though, i did always wonder why my car did that.
