3rd gear got stuck in, previous run i got beat by a bmw?

Well it was street night at ennis, openning weekend. So me and my bud went down their in his brand new sevan series T/A. He let me drive the car. First run, dumped it at 1500 and bogged like hell, plus that pesky tcs switch is hard to play with while your driving. So i ran a 14.1. that was embaresing. Second run was fabulus. dumped it at 3500 R/T was .768, E/T was 13.20 @ 104.??. Third run i raced the bmw. I got raped all the way. I missed third and ran a 20 somthing E/T. Met him in the pit asked if he wanted to run again. Sure he says. he told me that he has a bone stock except exhuast. It was a slick bmw. brand new. only had 4000 on the odo. he was ronning high 12's. I know this sevan series could do that.
I had a great start. went into third gear. but wouldnt engage. But it also wouldnt come out of the third gear gate. I sat their and tugged on it and it wouldnt come out. It took me and robert to pull that sob shifter out of third. pulling into the pits we used the gear and it worked fine? Any ideas or suggestions.

If that was a BMW M3, you'll have your hands full. Those things run 0-60 in under 5 seconds and have 333 hp... Stock they should run low 13's. They look almost identical to a BMW 3-series except they have and "M" badge on the rear trunk lid.

If you were driving a new T/A, I've heard the clutch tends to hang up and make for hard shifting into third gear. A new LS1 should hand any BMW it's *** even in the hands of an inexperienced driver. Unless it's that V8 powered little ugly BMW thing. The M3 non-convt car.

BMW has several new cars out that are in LS1 territory. The new 333hp M3 (that we finally get in euro-spec power wise), and the 400hp M5 both look about like your standard BMW but run hard.

If it was hitting high 12s I'd wager it was the M5. Both the M3 and M5 are supposed to handle the road courses handily as well.

Thats great to hear, euro luxuary SEDANS beating and compeating w/ american muscle cars. But why and how did the shifter get stuck?

If it's any consolation they cost quite a bit of money... The pre-2001 M3s (240 hp I believe) are no competition for any LS1 in the 1/4, heck I whooped one on the highway in my 87Z...
