PLEASE HELP, Need to know how to adjust rocker arms!!

I have to tighten a couple rocker arms due to ticking lifters. And the rocker arms which are loose are just plane too loose. Any way do you adjust the (intake as the exhaust goes down and the exhaust as the intake goes up), or (intake as the exhaust goes up and exhaust as the intake goes down)? Please help. I have already got the valve covers off and a lot of other stuff off right now. I don't want to go through this again untill at least next year when I get the camaro ready for the summer time.

You could adjust all the valves in 2 rotations or the crank.

With #1 at TDC adjust 1, 3, 4, 8 exhaust and 1, 2, 5, 7 intake
With #6 at TDC adjust 2, 5, 6, 7 exhaust and 3, 4, 6, 8 intake.

Best way to adjust them is with a feeler gauge. Smallest size possible. Usually .0015". Adjust the rockers so that there is some drag on the feeler gausge then tighten the rocker nut 1/2 turn more. This sets the preload to about .020 to .040

If your lifters are ticking then you either have a collapsed lifter or a cam lobe is worn off. Having to re-adjust hydraulic lifters means there is usually something else wrong. Rarly does the adjusting nut back off.

Thanks guys! I think I finally got the rocker arms adjusted, but to be on the safe side I think I am going to look a little deeper. I think that maybe my cam might have a couple worn down lobes. And being that I spent a sh-- load of money on a stroker I think it might be wise to pull things apart and do a rebuild so I can race this camaro safely this summer! After I readjusted the rocker arms, the ticking went away but the car idles to high after hitting the gas a little. I think there is a blown gasket some where. I wish this was an easy fix er up er, but I am playing it safe so I can race this summer!
