ECM Change with Vortec Heads?
Hey guys, I know that some of you are running the vortec heads, did you notice big problems with the lack of egr? I want to use redrilled vortec heads from Pace Parts on a pretty much stock '95 L05 truck motor (TBI, 9:1 comp, I195,E202 cam). I've been told that my ports won't line up with my old intake so a new carb intake is a must. My biggest concern is lack of EGR. Will I need to have the EGR turned off in the ecm, plumb in an external EGR or just run without it? I dont have to pass tailpipe emissions, just a visual that is no problem. The motor is in my '95 Z71 4x4 5sp that is a total gas sucking pig!!!! Please dont throw me out cause its not an F body!! I have owned 6 third gens! My current F bodys are my wifes '87 WS6 T/A TPI 5sp and my '97 30th anniversary Z28 6sp, thats how I found this awesome site!!!! I would really like to turn up the wick on my truck because living in NY, thats what I drive 6 months out of the year. I have some money to spend but would like to save as much as I can for the summer rides!!!! Any input would be extremely helpful. Thanks Andy
